Therapeutic Day Treatment for Teens
Our therapeutic day treatment is a non-residential option for teens who need comprehensive, all-day clinical support while living at home.
The treatment combines academic and therapeutic program, and is also known as partial hospitalization program (PHP).
Our specialized therapeutic day program enhances teen mental health by providing comprehensive care for adolescents aged 13 to 17. Our approach addresses a range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse.
Teens receive educational support to ensure they stay on track in school while pursuing their therapeutic goals. Our program begins at 8:30 am and ends at 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
We recognize that personal growth involves self-discovery, and the pace of this journey varies for each individual. As a general guideline, teens typically participate in the program for 4-12 weeks and then drop down to our lower level of care (IOP).
Each client has an individualized treatment plan developed by a multidisciplinary treatment team. Our program offers a mix of individual and group therapy where families are fully involved.
Our program also offers a community where teens (and parents) experience a sense of belonging. In groups, teens learn from each other, find other teens going throught the same challenges as them, practice compassion and develop social skills. This is where the real magic happens.

“AWA’s clinical approach is research-based and consistent. But most significant there is a personal touch and human connection that is genuine and authentic. The team really care about these kids, and it shows in the outcomes.”
Veronica, parent of AWA client
“The staff here is excellent - very experienced in working with teens and very responsive to parents. I think it’s a productive approach to therapy that involves both the parents and the kids and allows the kids to share with their peers in a safe place. It focuses on the roots of issues rather than just the symptoms.”
K Anderson, parent of AWA client
What the program looks like?
Teens begin their day with our academic program, ensuring they keep up with schoolwork. Our certified teacher works with the family and teens' school to create a plan that fits their educational needs. This collaboration helps teens stay on track with their schoolwork, catch up if they've fallen behind, and do well academically while in a safe environment and receiving treatment.
The therapeutic day program starts after that with three daily groups that use evidence-based approaches. Our multidisciplinary team creates personalized plans for each teen in our program and provides weekly one-on-one sessions.
Our PHP treatment includes modalities such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR with certified therapists, as well as nutritional education, music/art therapy, spoken words, yoga, and mindfulness. AWA’s program helps teens become more self-aware, and equips them with coping skills to navigate their own challenges in today’s world.
